The inaugural concert, held on 24 June 2012 at the Nelson School of Music, received a standing ovation, having sold out 48 hours in advance. The orchestra performed
The conductor was Mark Hodgkinson. There were 65 players and about one third were medical students.
MAS kindly provided financial assistance for students.
Revenue from ticket sales was $6321.70 and this was donated to the Nelson Tasman Hospice.
