Information for players

If you’re not sure about enrolling for this year but would like to be kept informed, fill out the expression of interest form below

Expressions of interest

We are always keen to hear about medical musicians.  Even if you are only vaguely interested in taking part, we want to hear from you.  As long as you are a doctor or medical student and as long as you have some experience playing in an orchestra, we consider you eligible at this stage to join.

If you are interested, fill in the form below, click here to provide your details, or email us at

NZDO selection process

Players are selected by the conductor, on the basis of the information provided on the enrolment form.  We aim to foster both high quality and inclusiveness within the orchestra. Click here for our selection policy

We are keen to feature players from within our ranks to solo in a concerto in future years.  If you’d like to be considered as a soloist, or know someone who would be suitable, let us know.  We’d like potential soloists to prepare a recording of a movement of their preferred concerto (with piano accompaniment) and we’ll ask the conductor to choose a soloist (and item) that would suit.  The deadline for submitting a recording is 31 October of each year, but if you’re considering submitting a recording, please let us know before then.
